Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Mei Tai?
A mei tai is a very simple, straight-forward baby carrier. They originated from Asia, and are often known as Asian Baby Carriers or ABCs. They are quick and easy to put on by yourself -no clips or buckles to pinch delicate skin!
A mei tai consists of a rectangle where the baby sits: two long shoulder straps and a waist strap. You carry the weight of your baby across both shoulders, so mei tais are fantastic for long shopping trips, mountain hikes, or just keeping your baby close whilst you get on with your day!

How old should my baby be to use a mei tai?
The Daisy Chain Mei Tai can be used from birth to 3 years (approx 35lb) The fabric is soft enough to snuggle your newborn, and the sleeping hood gently supports their head.
As my son has always been heavy, I designed the Daisy Chain Mei Tai to be supportive for a toddler too. The wide, lightly padded straps distribute your Little One's weight across your shoulders. The waist strap is also padded so you can use the carrier apron or non-apron style- whichever you prefer!
Which size Mei Tai should I get?
This is the question that I am asked most often- and I always find it really tricky to answer....
The Standard size is suitable from newborn, although you will have to roll the waistband over. Some people find that it is big enough to use with their 2 year olds! generally, I would recommend it for up to 15/18 month old babies.
The Young toddler size is quite tall, so that you are able to wear it apron style with a 2 year old child if you want. I generally recommend it from 15 months upwards, and it can comfortably be used until a child is over 3.
The Older toddler size is really BIG, and I generally only recommend it for 2 1/2 years and up.
If you are unsure of which size to get, please contact me and I will do my best to help!
How do I wash a Daisy Chain Mei Tai?
Most Daisy Chains are washable on delicate, at 30 degrees. To prevent it from becoming damaged, I recommend that you put it in a pillowcase so that the straps don't get tangled up in the drum. It is advisable to spot-clean where possible, as this will result in the least wear and tear.
Some Daisy Chain carriers feature applique, and these should be handwashed only, to protect the applique from damage.
After washing, any silk on your carrier may become a little dull-looking. Ironing it whist slightly damp should restore it to it's former glory! Please ensure that you use an appropriate heat setting or you can scorch the silk.
